Sha’Carri Richardson, the firebolt who blazed past the competition in the U.S. Olympic trials but lost her chance to compete in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics because of Marijuana use, now is taking the opportunity to race against three of the Olympic Jamaica female runners. Making her track debut with red hair, she recently dyed her hair an icicle blue to prepare for the race. In a Tiktok video, she presented herself in a way in which some are calling “confidence” and others are calling “arrogance and cockiness”. Social media seems to have a love-hate relationship with Sha’Carri and this has led to the bigger discussion as to whether or not communities actually support black women, or only the black woman demonstrates a certain level of humility.
